A new storybook has been published on Majorca through the charity foundation created by the island's waste management company, Tirme. “El Duende Nica” (an elf called Nica) was compiled by Tirme with the help of non-governmental inter-cultural charity organisation Amico Baleares.
Sixty children from the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe school in Managua (Nicaragua) provided the drawings and paintings representing their own lives and culture which illustrate a story about Joan and Ana, two Majorcan youngsters who go on a journey to Nicaragua. There they learn the values of respecting people from different parts of the world and the environment.

In total, 2'500 copies of the storybook have been published. They will be distributed amongst employees of Tirme, associaties of Amico Baleares and schools around the island. Some 1'000 of them meanwhile will go to the school in Nicaragua where pupils provided the illustrations based on a theme of “You can learn from me and I can learn from you.”
