One in five retailers are confident that Winter sales takings will better last year’s as the sales get under way in earnest  this morning.

Palma.—The Winter sales officially get under way this  morning, although many retailers have been offering attractive discounts since before Christmas, and it appears that there is more confidence on the high street than last year.
According to the results of a survey of independent retailers carried out by Pimeco, the association of small and medium sized businesses in Majorca, 21 percent of small retailers are expecting to see takings better last year’s.
