The battle to stop oil prospecting in Balearic waters is continuing to gather momentum with the fishing joining the campaign.

Palma.—Yesterday, the 16 associations of professional fishermen, which generate some 21 million euros per year for the local economy, gave its backing to the campaign to stop oil prospecting in Balearics waters.
While a performance protest was staged on the beach in Palma, the Federation of Balearic Fishermen said that oil prospecting in local waters will not only pose a threat to their livelihoods but also the marine environment.
Yesterday, in an official document, the Federation put forward 11 objections but Toni Garau, secretary of the federation said that they could have listed at least 111 reasons why oil prospecting has to be stopped.
