Former Socialist Balearic President, Francesc Antich, whose government issued the prospecting permits, said it will cost the government over 400,000 euros to over rule the permits.

Palma.—The President of the Balearics Jose Ramon Bauza, may be fighting a losing battle in his bid to have oil and gas prospecting in Mediterranean and Balearic waters halted, but he is not giving up.
Yesterday morning on live breakfast TV, he raised the issues before the nation.
“It is unacceptable and unthinkable that the millions of holiday makers who come to the region will be forced to gaze out at an oil or gas platform instead of the sun set,” Bauza said.
