I suppose it was to be expected but British newspapers published reports over the weekend of the “mugging”problem in Magalluf piling even further pressure  on the local authorities to take urgent action.
Two British tabloids, with a readership of millions, underlined the problem of muggers masquerading as prostitutes in Magalluf. The reports come after the Bulletin received a number of letters from tourists who said that they will never return until the security situation is resolved. Local business people in area are in the process of organising a protest march through the resort this weekend.
British tour operators have also said that they are concerned that the problems in Magalluf were starting to give Majorca a bad image.  Travel firms are calling on the local authorities to take action. The Spanish authorities have said that there will be additional police officers on duty over the coming days as part of the usual summer policing re-inforcements.
