WELL done all. Well done to the tourists who complaied about the situation in Magalluf, well done to the bar owners in Punta Ballena for speaking out and well done to the local police and Guardia Civil who will now be mounting joint operations to rid Magalluf of many of its ills. Now, I don´t know whether the press coverage had anything to do with the announcement yesterday of  a Magalluf crackdown but it certainly brought the issue into the public dormain. People might say that the police have carried out raids and crackdowns before but the Calvia council announced the joint patrols in a press statement issued yesterday. This is not unusual but the timing was certainly right. I sincerely hope that the Guardia Civil and the local police, the first joint operation involved 35 officers which must be a sizeable percentage of all police officers on duty in the municipality,  can clean-up Magalluf and make it a safe, party resort which can be enjoyed by all.  It is certainly a step in the right  direction.  Controlling the exits and entrances to the resort and also banning those who have been arrested in Magalluf from the resort, serves a powerful warning. Let us hope that the security situation in Magalluf improves and we can get back to working on the summer season which at the moment is not looking that great. But Ido believe that something has been achieved and as I said at the start of this  column well done to all.
