There was widespread condemnation across the Balearics of the murder of 45-year-old Rosa Maria Martinez in Soller yesterday.
Palma.—Martinez died at the hands of her ex-husband, 48-year-old Jaume Mayol, at the family home just outside of Soller on Monday afternoon.
Mayol, who had two young daughters with Martinez, then took his own life with a rifle.
Yesterday, the Central Government Delegate to the Balearics, Teresa Palmer, strongly condemned the second fatal case of domestic violence in the region this year. She also called on all victims of domestic violence to speak out and denounce their attackers before it is too late.
She reminded everyone that any one in a precarious or dangerous situation can call the free phone number 016 24 hours a day for help or go straight to the police.
