Palma.—The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation into claims that the captain of the Sant Telm tourist boat tried to charge canoeists, who were rescued during the storm which struck Sunday’s regatta, five euros to board the vessel.
Panic and chaos struck when the weather suddenly took a drastic change for the worst, despite the Balearic Met. office having forecast adverse conditions and possible storms. For the moment, the Guardia Civil are investigating an ‘administrative infraction’. However, should it be established that the captain tried to charge the victims five euros a head to board his vessel, then the case would become much more serious.
