Soller hoteliers and the local council yesterday expressed  their concern upon hearing that the demolition and reconstruction of the Rocamar Hotel could take a further six months to be completed.
The reason is  that the company which was been hired to carry out the work  for 483,000 euros wants to use a “massive” bulldozer, a machine that is not permitted in tourist areas due to the  noise it makes. The heavy weight of the machine (over 50 tons) is also a problem since the only point of access to the hotel is a bridge not designed to hold such weight. The local hotel federation is now claiming that when it agreed to the project it was  not informed that all these details could become a problem.
