Palma.—Balearic Port Authorities (APB) have received 19 proposals to convert 10 local lighthouses into hotels, restaurants, cafeterias and even a museum.
The proposals were made not only from local businessmen and women but from foreign investors as well.
A spokesperson from APB said that a year on from proposing the tourist plans for “Spanish Lighthouses” to the Ministry of Development, offers are now “flying in”.
Proposals to turn them into hotels will undergo a careful selection process as port laws are quite strict when it comes to develop such projects in portuary areas.
Apart from the costs involved, including taxes, expansion plans are also frowned upon, APB added.
