Palma.—British resident Steevi Ware may be more commonly known as the ‘British plumber’ based in Cala D’or but he is also a ‘prepper’, a member of Survivalism,  a movement of individuals or groups (called survivalists or preppers) who are actively preparing for emergencies, including possible disruptions in social or political order, on scales from local to international.
And, more recently, he has been consulted locally and in the UK on how to combat Ebola and what preparations can be taken.
Originally from West Sussex, Ware, who moved to Majorca in 2000 and became a ‘prepper’ in 2012,  researched the transmissibility of Ebola and believes that good personal hygiene and isolation might be more helpful than buying lots of protective suits.
Ware, who holds survival courses on the island, explained to the Bulletin yesterday that, obviously, his primary concern is the welfare of his wife and three children in the event of any incident, be it a 24 hour power cut, which continue to occur on the island, or a forest fire on the scale of which we saw in Majorca last year.
