Palma Local Police have detected at least five illegal taxis operating in the area of Gomila. Since March, 2012, the number of police on the beat in Gomila has been significantly increased and the number of drug and alcohol related incidents has been drastically reduced. For example, in two years, 244 drivers have been caught for driving while under the influence of alcohol and drugs, 147 of which have been arrested. So far this year, 34 drunk drivers have been caught.
The number of traffic accidents in the area has also been reduced and now the police are focusing their attention on illegal pirate taxis.
