The Balearics enjoyed a share of the 2.5 billion-euro  Christmas lottery pot of cash divided among thousands of ticketholders yesterday.

Palma.—A share of the second prize, worth 1,250,000 per strip of ten tickets was won at  the lottery office at the Carrefour hypermarket in Coll d’en Rebassa near the airport while a share of the fourth prize was also won in Palma and Llubi.
But it was not just Majorca which was celebrating yesterday, so too were lucky winning ticket holders in Minorca and Ibiza, where over six million euros was won in Sant Antony de Portmany after landing a share of the fifth prize.
The winning number was  13,437 with a single wining ticket worth 400,000 euros although, those whose tickets ended in seven, were entitled to the 20 euros they had spent on their ticket back -  many will use the refunded money to buy a ticket for the El Niño New Year draw.
Unlike other big lotteries that generate just a few big winners, Spain’s Christmas lottery aims to share the wealth, with thousands of numbers getting a prize.
