First it was Minorca airport and yesterday, over 100 airport employees mounted a demonstration at Palma’s Son San Joan airport against the government’s intention to part privatise Spanish airport authority AENA.
Employees are worried that private entities will look to save money and that will mean cutting jobs. CCOO workers’ commission shop steward, Miguel Angel Flexas, said that AENAshould not be sold, but defended and accused the government of breaking its contractual agreements with employees by putting nearly half of AENAup for sale.
“This all about money and making as much as possible,” Flexas said.
“The government does appear to care about the welfare and the future of the staff,” he added.
