Members of the Guardia Civil and the National Police yesterday searched the luxury property of the leading local businessman who was arrested in Arenal on Tuesday in connection with the investigation into Local Police corruption along the Playa de Palma and the Paseo Mallorca. So far a dozen members of the police force have been arrested, most released on bail, but the 67-year-old is the first civilian to have been caught up in the case involving alleged extortion and police favours.
The suspect is understood to own a number of tourist businesses in the resort including an adult night club.
Yesterday, police searched the property in search of further clues and money which are expected to be presented to the investigating judge today.
