Palma.—There has been widespread outrage against rubbish from fellow European countries such as Italy, Ireland and the UK being shipped to Majorca to be treated at the incinerator at Son Reus, but tens of thousands of tons of waste is going to be shipped over from neighbouring Minorca.
In December, the Minorcan authorities had to close its main waste treatment plant and since then tens of thousands of tons of waste packages have been piling up until a solution as to what to do with them has been found.
