It is starting to sound like a broken record...every winter we are promised a crackdown but as soon as the season starts the old problems come back to haunt us. Once again the “muggers masquerading as prostitutes” have returned to Magalluf. The ills of Magalluf have not been cured over the winter. What concerns me are the scores of letters we received last year from British tourists saying that they would not return until the issue of street prostitution was resolved. In most cases these are loyal British tourists who have been coming on holiday to Magalluf for many years. Unfortunately many will be going elsewhere because they feel unsafe. In fact, one couple  who had been holidaying in Magalluf for over 30 years, said that they had been forced to take a taxi to their nearby hotel from their favourite bar, because they were concerned they would be robbed. Now, Iwelcome all the investment which is being made in Magalluf at the moment but all this money is for nothing if the problem of street prostitution can´t be resolved.  The Calvia Council are cracking down on pub crawls and have even banned the street drinking of alcohol but still the prostitutes return. To be honest I can´t really understand why the problem can´t be resolved. These women are breaking the law because they are robbing and  stealing from tourists. It is as simple as that. Magalluf is a fantastic resort with a great future but it is time that its  problems were solved once and for all.
