Palma.—Air Europa, which has only just presented its new fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners which will cover its Madrid to Miami route, yesterday inaugurated its new control centre in Llucmajor, the first of its kind in the world.
The OCC Operation Control Centre will enable the airline to monitor in real time every single movement its 46 planes make.
The centre if fitted with a system called Star which has been developed by the company’s own computer department and it will enable operators to collate and monitor all the data from every flight from the number of passengers on board to the very minor incident.
Director General Maria Jose Hidalgo explained during the presentation of the new centre that the STAR programme will enable the airline to unravel the puzzle facing an airline on a daily basis and help control the 250 daily flights Air Europa operates.
