Holidays in One is a specialist golfing holidays agency based in Majorca and it is anticipating bringing 75,000 golfing tourists to the island this year, with most of them coming from the UK and Scandinavia (as well as but to a lesser extent from Germany). So reports the tourism industry website preferente.com.
Holidays in One, which launched its website only a year ago, has already gained a very good reputation. It was recently nominated for the World Golf Awards’ best inbound golf tour operator in Spain, while its initiative to attract more golfing tourists has been warmly welcomed by hotels on the island. It is currently working with over 50 hotels that range in quality from three to five stars and is looking to add further establishments.
The chief executive of Holidays in One, Fernando Ibañez, rightly identifies golfing tourism as one of the keys for breaking the cycle of tourism seasonality in Majorca, while it is a form of tourism that attracts a visitor with higher spending capacity than many other tourism sectors. A challenge for Majorca is for the island to combat competition from other parts of Spain, notably the Costa del Sol, but Sr. Ibañez is convinced that the potential for expansion of Majorca’s golfing tourism market exists.
