The warm weather in Majorca, which has been producing higher than normal temperatures for the time of the year, is set to continue until 6 December at least, says the Aemet meteorology agency.

Its deputy spokesperson in the Balearics, Miquel Gili, says that highs will be up by one to two degrees over what is typical and that no rain is anticipated for the next ten days. So far in November there have only been two days of rain, right at the start of the month. However, there will be heavy dews that will go some way to compensating for the lack of rain.

Gili points out that no record has been set as Majorca has, in the past, had Novembers that have been warmer and drier than the current one. For instance, in 1985 there were seven days when the temperature topped 24 degrees in Palma, while in 1995 the highest temperature in the city was 27.6C. The maximum this month has been 23.7C, although other parts of the island have been warmer: the highest this month has been 25.6C on 5 November in Puerto Pollensa. "It is rare for there to be so many successive days of heat, but it has happened before," he stresses.
