Three people lost their lives yesterday in the worst road accident in Majorca this year. The accident occurred at around five o'clock in the afternoon when a "high-range" convertible, with four young occupants, collided with a motorcycle on the motorway in the direction of Andratx near the exit for Portals Nous and Costa d'en Blanes.

Calvia police report that the car left the road and took the motorcycle with it, rolling several times and ending up in forest some seventy metres from where the initial collision took place on the motorway. The police statement said that the motorcyclist, identified as A.C.E., Spanish, aged 41, and two of the car's occupants - A.M.T., aged 25, and B.E.D., "also young" - had lost their lives. The driver, said to be of Bulgarian nationality, and the other passenger, suffered serious injuries.
