THE fifth Mallorca Football Tournament kicked off for real this morning when the first teams clashed in the first round at the sports centre just off the sea front in Santa Ponsa.

The weather may not have been ideal for the holidaymakers but most of the players were quite pleased that it was not as hot as last year, with playing conditions a bit more comfortable.
This morning it was like the United Nations at the sports ground with matches being played between 32 different nationalities. Due to the mixture of languages, English is very much the language of the tournament.
