I have been watching with interest the sunbed situation and I must admit it may certainly put me off from booking another holiday to PP. You lose confidence in the local council and who knows what may suffer next year and thereafter? For the sake of local traders please sort this out soon, it certainly could have a long lasting effect in an area that relies on tourism.
The ongoing situation of the new pavements on the paseo and the beaches in Puerto Pollensa is an utter disgrace and has angered not only myself but many local residents in Puerto Pollensa, including business owners of shops, hotels, cafes, restaurants, boutiques, offices etc. Puerto Pollensa and local businesses are dependent on Tourism and without tourism the town would simply not survive. The new pavements are ugly, cheap, badly designed for walking, not enough ramps for wheelchair access, street lighting does not fit in with the natural environment and pine trees planted as a cheap option which break up payments over time....Furthermore it is now a one way system which is fantastic in theory but I cannot see any provisions for parking? The beaches are not prepared for holidaymakers, we are now in the third week of May and no sun beds....what are they thinking about, I have seen better infrastructure in third world countries. Somebody, somewhere needs to be held responsible for this and action must be taken to improve the situation, it simply can´t be....I´m tired to see and hear the same, over and over again in this beautiful fishing village. It´s beauty must be retained. Sustainable development seems to be forgotten and the council only think about cheapest option. Not about the future of Puerto Pollensa and the effects it will have on the local economy.
