The squatters' occupation of the one-time Sa Nostra senior citizens' residence on Palma's calle General Riera is over. At 10am this morning, National Police officers moved into the building and removed the fourteen people who were there. The operation to evict them finished at a quarter past midday and passed off without incident.

Some forty officers were involved in the operation, which required closing the street to traffic. The squatters, described as being vagrants, removed their belongings. A shopping trolley assisted in the removals.

The eviction had been ordered by a judge at the request of BMN, the bank into which Sa Nostra was absorbed.
