There was another drugs operation in the north of Majorca yesterday. The Guardia Civil raided eight properties - two commercial establishments and six homes (including a rural finca off the main road from Alcudia to Palma) - in Puerto Alcudia and Can Picafort. Eleven people were arrested and quantities of cocaine, speed and marijuana were seized along with cash.

This latest operation, which started at six in the morning, involved eighty officers. One of the commercial establishments raided was a bar in Alcudiamar. The owner was detained. Investigations prior to yesterday's action had led the Guardia to believe that amphetamine (speed) was being manufactured. The operation was dubbed "Heisenberg" after the character in Breaking Bad because of this manufacture. The secret laboratory was uncovered during the operation.

Most of those arrested are Spaniards. A Moroccan detained is said to be the leader of a drugs clan in the north of the island.

It followed last week's during which two shops in Puerto Alcudia were raided as well as homes and a hairdressing salon in Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa.
