The Royal Family will start their annual summer holiday at Palma's Marivent Palace this week. The vacations are also a period for official duties in Majorca. Accordingly, the agenda for King Felipe includes audiences he will give to leading politicians on Friday. These will be the first official acts.

At 11am on Friday at the Almudaina Palace, the King will receive President Armengol. She will be followed at 11.30am by the president of the Balearic parliament, Baltasar Picornell. The mayor of Palma, Antoni Noguera, will be at 12 midday, and the president of the Council of Majorca, Miquel Ensenyat, is scheduled for 12.30pm.

Picornell and Noguera will be meeting the King for the first time. Picornell of Podemos replaced Xelo Huertas as parliament's president in February, while Noguera took over as mayor from José Hila at the end of last month.

The portrait of the King has been removed from Noguera's office and been replaced by one of the last Republican mayor of Palma, Emili Darder. There is, though, still a bust of King Felipe in the council chamber at the town hall.

In addition to these audiences on Friday, King Felipe and Queen Letizia will hold a reception for Balearic civil society at the Almudaina Palace. Prime Minister Rajoy is expected to come to Majorca for his weekly meeting with the King.
