Time has all but run out for the observatory in Costitx. From tomorrow, the procedure for the sale of the physical assets belonging to the Majorca Astronomical Observatory association will start. The building, the domes, the planetarium, the telescopes, the cafeteria and fixtures are all up for sale. The administrator is seeking at least 1.7 million euros, the amount that is owed to creditors.

The domes could become prisons for the drug dealers. Or, special RENTAL accommodations , but don't tell the Government , as they will treble their Tourist Tax etc.!!!.
What's happened to their "priceless" collection of meteriorites and space rocks? Has someone received a monetary bulge in their back pocket? It's a shame the island no longer wants tourism because the ability to book a stay overnight with the use of your own astronomical telescope dome could be marketed effectively. When they were "up and running" many years ago they were so mired in beaurocracy that it was practically impossible to book anything or fix a visit. A prime example of short-sightedness, laziness, and a wanton waste of money.
