As the annual Songs of Praise event approached, people locally began to think that it would be a case of "Singing In The Rain", but on Sunday the Anglican Congregation of St. Andrews in Puerto Pollensa celebrated their Songs of Praise on a delightful sunny evening.

The beach at Tamarells again proved to be the perfect location, and members of the congregation were joined by visitors and locals to make a really happy occasion. The event was presented by Vicky Pacey and hymns were chosen by various members of the congregation, who talked about their reasons for choosing their hymns. The two solo singers, Sharon Cooper and Liz West, were in excellent voice and the assembled congregation really appreciated  their contribution.

People passing on the sea front stopped to join the singing, and people passing in cars were slowing down and winding down windows to listen to the Songs of Praise.

As people left, one man was heard to say, "Didn't they do well." He then changed his mind and said, "Didn't we do well?" which reflected the success of the event. It was a true community event, where everybody contributed.

The next St Andrews community event will be the Autumn Fair on Saturday 7 October.
