Palma town hall has closed the Passeig Sagrera and Dalt Murada area to pedestrians on Friday because of the orange alert for winds exceeding 90 kilometres per hour.

Under the protocol for high winds, sections of the Passeig Sagrera and Avenida Gabriel Roca will be closed if the wind does exceed 90 kph. A detour for traffic would temporarily allow traffic to turn into Avenida Antoni Maura.

The town hall issued a recommendation to pedestrians to avoid areas where there are tall trees, especially Avenida Gabriel Roca, Dalt Murada, Passeig Mallorca, Las Ramblas, Passeig Born, Puerta de Santa Catalina, Sa Feixina, Bellver Forest, Passeig Sagrera.

The strongest winds are expected between 5pm and midnight on Friday.
