Spain is launching a major drive to attract talented Britons, many of whom decided not to move to Spain because of the additional paperwork as a result of Brexit. This is one of the reasons why Spain will be launching the so-called Nomad Visa next month which is aimed to people who work from home for companies outside Spain.

Zoltan TeglasI don't think anyone needs to worry about it. They don't now, and won't be limited to that area in the future. But some might. It's always amusing to watch the newbies who visited on holiday, who end up deciding to live there. It isn't long before they move away from the resort. Maybe nice to visit, but they're not the best places to live.
Morgan WilliamsThe reason I mentioned Playa de Palma is that the idea of the Balearic Government (or whoever is behind this, I don't remember ) was that these people stay in hotels in this area over the winter. I said at the time that this was a nonsense as they wouldn't want to stay at somewhere like that.
Zoltan TeglasThere's other choices than playa de Palma. Much nicer places that aren't tourist resorts and are open and active all year round. The fincas and villas around the island are often booked for a month or two ...or three ...by the very "digital nomads" you're referring to. At this time of year, it's bloody cold and miserable in Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Paris, Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt... et al. Mallorca is like springtime to them. And at a fraction of the cost of living. What's not to like?
I don't know why the MDB is getting excited about this as the vast majority of these people will be going to places like Madrid or Barcelona, who Mallorca can't compete with or to the Canaries or Marbella for the weather - again Mallorca can't compete. Staying in the ghost town that is the playa de Palma in the winter won't be at the top of anyone's list. They'll be lucky to attract a couple of dozen people.

See? Foreigners aren't all that different. Obviously Britain would like talented Britons too. It scared away a lot of the foreign talent. And talented Britons too.
