After a bumper 2022, the Balearic tourist industry, currently patting itself on the back at the Fitur tourist fair in Madrid, has hiked its prices ahead of what is expected to be another busy season and according to Which?, hotel and airline prices are about to go up even more and has advised Britons to book their Easter and Summer holidays now to avoid getting ripped off.

Jonathan MilburnIt’s Newcastle Jet2 with decent flight time. but the others are as bad .. Ryanair starts at around £30 to a ton but bags and seats ad £45 each way. 2019 the airport had 2 Thomas cook , tui, jet2 ,easy jet, and one Ryanair to Majorca a day. Most with reasonable flight times. Now TC is gone, easy very early return along with some Ryanair and tui. you can fly late and waste your first day and save a £100 or leave in the middle of the night for returning home spoils the holiday. Compared with 2019 and last year the flights are up £400. Next nearest Edinburgh or Leeds 3 hours drive away. Plus parking so no real savings, and hotels for early flights. Surprisingly the flight discount emails are dropping in at 20% off. So reality returns.

David HollandAccording to the "6 quid poll" taken here, a whopping 30% of Brits say they'll avoid Mallorca because of it. Really? It's pretty amusing. not only because the "6 quid" covers 3 years' entry and if that's too much then a trip abroad probably shouldn't be on your list anyway, but also because if you choose anywhere else like Greece or Spain, you'll still have to pay it anyway. And you'll pay more than triple that to visit say, Florida. Lastly, of course, if a handful of Brits refuse to come to Mallorca, that means that a handful of a handful will have something less than a handful of impact on tourism. Such a 6 quid "protest" would therefore have about the same impact as taking a cup of sand from the beach. And yes, it's been delayed again anyway, so you can save your precious 6 quid for now. Egypt next year though. It's cheap.
Morgan WilliamsWell it’s reported ‘euronews’ that the EES introduction has been delayed until the end of 2023. It seems they have ‘technical issues’ ..19 or. 27 countries at every entry point, I wonder why , not much of an integration challenge there….Humm. The visa waver status is unclear but seems to be a November introduction, so the £6 is safe. Egypt in the summer phew. Turkish holiday tv advertising is great the holiday experience tbc. But Kempinski have offering there, and that chain is very good. This week Qatar holidays being trailed which did surprise me a bit. But every day a full emirate 777 leaves my regional for the delights of Dubai, 5* adventure for 6nights for £1500 and No Magaluf. Seriously Majorca, Spain will as always be no1 in the Brits holiday play book , because it’s quick and easy to get too, as long it’s affordable.for families all inclusive is a way to best budget that.
I heard that Turkey and Egypt are cheap. I can't say if all-in includes free beer, alcopops & gin tonic, but no extra 6 quid so that's still cheaper than Mallorca.
Yeh I looked at a flight for early June. .. Two seats each way and a bag each,,,,, nearly £1k .. That’s a lot more than 50% up on last year. .. The travel companies seem to be pushing packages more in preference than just flights. Walked past a travel agent window the other day and saw an offer for Majorca in May all inclusive 4* apparently, £490 for 7 days .all in. No idea where . My planned destination at £3.5k a 7 night package is £500 cheaper than going independent same spec.in Deia and includes private transfers. Say another £150… Some really strange prices range out there at the moment .
