The Council of Menorca is apparently considering raising the tourist tax during the peak months of July and August in an attempt to ease overcrowding and mass tourism. In one town on the island, Binibeca Vell, famous for its , whitewashed houses, residents have recently imposed restrictions, allowing tourists to visit only between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm.

Are the PP in power in Menorca? Surely not as they spent 8 years in opposition telling everyone how they were against it.
Brilliant. Most tourists don't even have a clue that they're paying it. It's usually just a line item on the invoice. And EU law requires that the TOTAL price, including all taxes and extras is presented and charged at booking time. So, yeah, an extra euro or two will scare them off. Problem solved.
