There is growing concern within the Spanish tourist industry about a new law which comes into force on October 1 which requires hotel and apartment owners to hand over sensitive details about their clients to the authorities. The Spanish government claims that it will make the country a safer place but critics say that it could be breaking privacy guidelines.

Lol, giving any official entities your financial details in Spain .Sorry, they've never been investigated and jailed for corruption, or have they.......
Well well well, an article where the comments section is far more interesting than the piece. Haven't seen one of those for a while. Keep it up guys.
Richard PearsonFair enough. Good luck.
“You're the only one competing“ It’s not a race, it’s an endurance test.
You're doing a great job Richard. But then, you're the only one competing, so you'll always win the tournament. Very clever. Keep up the good work.
Marvin Le MartianYes, I suppose it could be considered puerile, but as I have nothing better to do and it seems to be beneficial for my mental agility, I suppose I will continue slaving away. Apart from that, I am trying to beat last year’s grand total of negative votes. So far this year (2024), I am up by around roughly 14%. So, keep em coming guys.
Morgan Williams“ And considering your long history of embarrassments”. Yours or mine ?
Les ChaseInteresting point about paying cash whilst at the same time swiping your loyalty card. I know someone who might feel inclined to use theirs less than they do after being told about this. Thanks !
In UK Big Brother is watching over you all the time. Supermarket loyalty cards for one, the supermarket knows exactly what one has purchased, and by what means. Once herd of a builder paying for his weekly grocery bill in cash, and using a loyalty card. HMRC took him to court for not declaring the cash he was not earning and spending. The builder received a massive fine in the end. Also Nectar points at local Esso independent fuel stations cost 1p per litre to the filling station. I support my local Esso station and do not use a loyalty card there. Finally, payment on plastic or electronic, is another way Big Brother is watching one all the time as well.
Richard Pearson*sigh* Of course we are required to enter the IDs of all guests into the Guardia Civil database. But we have received no official notice, nor does the Guardia Civil website nor any other tourism-related agency require the guest's credit card / bank account details. So, until that happens, I'm chalking it up to more sensationalism. And considering your long history of embarrassments, you might want to start considering whether your trolling is such a good idea.
