Over the coming months Palma City Council will launch a campaign to raise awareness about saving water in the face of the scarcity of rainfall, according to council spokesperson Mercedes Celeste, after the third review of the municipal Emergency Plan, which sets out the measures to be adopted in each scenario (pre-alert, alert and emergency due to drought).

There should have been lesson on the curriculum since at least the 80s on water "conservation". Teaching kids to turn off the tap when brushing teeth and when soaping up in the shower. And not flushing if you just do a pee. But more focus is put on gender issues and wokeness these days - to what extent in Spanish schools i do not know for sure. But the logical question to ask is "which one is essential for life"? I would rather have plentiful drinking water over being able to identify as a Chinese cat! (Don't forget to get your kitty jabs y'all!)
Hotels in the Canary Islands are applying for and building their own De-Salination Plants to supply their Hotel. As most Hotel Groups are very wealthy. I think more could build their own Plants here in Mallorca.
Every year Mallorca is short of water. Surely the Government of the day needs to start a plan to obtain and save water. When it rains, if not over the mountain Reservoirs, it is not collected over the whole Island. Constructing De -Salination Plants has been a Top Priority for decades. But despite the billions of money spent in Mallorca. No money has been used to solve the water shortage . All the Tourist Tax should go towards obtaining and collecting water. This could be explained to Tourists. Unfortunately the billions of money earned here, are no longer here. But in other places in the World. Unless a major plan is started to obtain water. The Island will continue to have a constant shortage.
