The Americans are coming! In the first quarter of this year sales of homes to U.S. citizens in Spain rose by a record breaking 57 percent with Mallorca being one of the top spots. This is all despite the end of Spain´s Golden Visa which proved especially attractive to non-European Union home buyers.
Informed sources consulted by the Bulletin said that there had been a massive increase in the number of U.S. residents and holidaymakers to the Balearics. Later this month the direct flights from New York to Palma will get underway and will last for the summer.
Mallorca hotels which traditionally had the British as their main market are now saying that the Americans are Number 1 and some are in the five star category. American investment is also flooding in.
Some sources have blamed U.S. President Donald Trump for the big exodus from the United States with Spain, Greece and Portugal being the preferred choice for many Americans. Both Greece and Portugal still maintain their Golden visas. Spain decided to scrap its visa system despite it being hugely popular with both Britons and Americans.
The Mallorca Tourist industry is hoping that there will be more direct flights from the U.S. to Palma over the coming years.

Morgan WilliamsFrom your link, in regards to people leaving the US : “The trend has continued, with IRS data revealing at least 3,260 individuals renouncing citizenship in 2021 and a further rise to at least 3,840 in 2022” Care to tell us who the President was during those years ?. By the way, you have no idea how easy it is to gaslight you.
Zoltan TeglasHe's doing a fine job all by himself. His narratives eerily parrot white house press conferences, which are largely void of facts and generally relying on baseless innuendo, and/or gross exaggeration. And the "icon of irony" routinely changes his tune with the latest nonsense emerging from the white house. Just one example: he was a big fan of fast food like McDonald's and burger king a few weeks ago. New he's suddenly all in favour of "healthier foods" because the conspiracy theorist health minister says so. And dismantling the what's left of the rather pathetic US healthcare system is a good way to do that, apparently. But the one thing that drives him absolutely batty... Is being ignored. Just like the orangutan. It appears that he's bought it all, lock stock and barrel. Right down to the arrogant ignorance. There's and old saying: When you're dead, you don't know it, but everybody else does. Same is true when you're deluded. So, no need to argue with this one. He's doing a great job all by himself. Anyway, back to the point: here's a summary of why Americans are leaving the US. https://harveylawcorporation.com/why-more-americans-are-leaving-the-us/
Zoltan TeglasAnd talking about facts, you will obviously have noticed that whenever I make a comment I invariably supply numbers and facts, these being, to my knowledge, correct. These comments also invariably receive negative votes, but up to now NO ONE has supplied others that contradict mine, not even Mr Google Williams. Which leads me to believe that most readers think that by just giving me a negative vote will prove their point, and prove me wrong. If this is the case they obviously didnt join the debating society whilst at university to learn and be taught how things function in the real world between intelligent adults.
Zoltan TeglasI have absolutely no problem with personally receiving negative votes, I actually expect it as as it’s obvious, most readers seem to be either anti the Republican Party or violently anti Trump, including the editorial staff of this newspaper. What I dislike and find very uncivilized is that you, and several others, continuously insult and write despective comments about anyone who writes or thinks favorably about the new President, who by the way received more positive votes than negative ones, treating them as fools, idiots and part of a sect, etc. This is not how grown people should correspond with each other, and it’s certainly not my way of doing things when referring to leaders of other political parties of other nations, especially when a) I haven’t met them and b) am not a citizen of the country from which they received a mandate from its citizens to administer it for them. A prime example would be the multitude of negative votes a comment about ex Democrat R. Kennedy Jr received about him attempting to coax the American public to eat healthier foods. If the shoe had been on the other foot they would have been endlessly praising him. Childish ? Me thinks so.
Richard PearsonJudging by the amount of down votes you get (are you going for the record on here?) I think it's you that should give it a rest. And I will continue to give my opinions on here without your permission. Thank you.
Zoltan TeglasGrow up, will you. Your childish comments are becoming really tiresome. We all know you hate Trump, but don’t bore us to tears with it please. Thanks.
James WalkerA Trump supporter talking about facts. You couldn't make it up.
Morgan WilliamsBy the way the cost of living and healthcare has nothing to do with President Trump. Since he took office, inflation is down (as in now Conservative run Argentina), fuel and electricity prices are way down and egg prices, which everybody was complaining about have dropped 50% Re health care, he is obliging drug companies to lower their prices by as much as 90%. Google it.
Morgan WilliamsThen you will be obviously aware that since 2020, over 3 million citizens have left Democrat run California to move to Republican run Texas and Florida and that since Labour “won” the last election, British high value citizens are leaving the country in droves on a daily basis. Lower value ones would as well if they could afford it. I wonder why. And that the number of legal immigrants to the USA are at an all time high, especially from Africa and the Middle East. Also that the small number of South African citizens granted asylum in the USA can’t believe their luck, hopefully to be followed by thousands more. No doubt you will also know that certain Canadian states are seriously considering becoming U.S. ones. So it seems that your negative opinion of the USA isn’t shared by others.
Stan The ManNot this one. I’ve known who he is for 40 years. Naturally, since most administration actions have been illegal, I maintain my confidence in the rule of law. MAGAs riding high now. It can’t last. Too much bad lawyering by bad lawyers. After all, everything Trump touches dies. Sit tight. Try not to get worked up about the daily outrage they introduce to obfuscate the actions they take. Don’t drink the bleach.
