In the past British holiday makers to Mallorca and the rest of Spain have been warned about certain driving laws which prohibits anything that prevents safe driving such as wearing inappropriate clothes or footwear and if drivers are caught they could be hit with a 200 euro fine.
Spain’s driving legislation, outlined in the “Ley sobre Tráfico, Circulación de Vehículos a Motor,” mandates that drivers must maintain complete control over their vehicles at all times. Though it doesn’t directly ban flip-flops or sandals, if an officer deems your footwear unsafe or hindering control, a fine of up to €200 (approximately £167) may be issued.
Spanish authorities especially target tourists in coastal holiday hotspots, where flip-flops are common. Rental car drivers unfamiliar with local law are advised to switch into secure shoes before driving. And, drivers in Spain have also been warned that they must indicate when taking on manoeuvres such as changing lanes, turning or exiting roundabouts.
The Spanish Directorate-General for Traffic insists it is a ‘critical component of road safety’ so that other road users are aware of any manoeuvres you are about to do. Failing to properly indicate could see holiday makers slapped with a €200, or £170, fine as law enforcement officers get tough on offenders. Not only that, but being too slow to use your indicators before changing direction could land tourists with a minimum €80, or £68, fine.
Plus, if you are coming to Mallorca this summer, don’t forget that you could be hit with a £500 fine for walking around the streets in just your swimming shorts or a bikini. So, if you are off the beach and in town, keep your shirt on and don’t get shirty with the local police.
You are not supposed to drink alcohol in public places and you will also be faced with a hefty fine if you decide to leap off your balcony into the swimming pool. Also, while there are beaches on which smoking is prohibited, don’t stuff your fag butts into the sand. Apart from damaging the environment, it is highly disrespectful for other sunbathers.

As below I wonder why the Police are picking on tourists if they don't indicate. By simple observation if they picked on locals for this offence the courts would be blocked for months. A very close friend of mine, a highly successful and intelligent woman freely admits she "never" uses her indicators as if this was simply normal practice. My wife tells me off for mouthing rude words at offenders....... As the old joke goes, the last thing to expire on a Spanish car is the signalling mechanism.
"And, drivers in Spain have also been warned that they must indicate when taking on manoeuvres such as changing lanes, turning or exiting roundabouts." 😂😂😂😂😂 Mallorcan drivers are the worst i've ever seen, don't think any of their indicators have ever been used.
Signalling Christ I thought Spanish Drivers bought cars without signals as they NEVER USE them at Roundabouts nor when changing lanes
A lot of Mallorcan drivers will have to use their indicators for the first time in life ....
' don’t forget that you could be hit with a £500 fine for walking around the streets in just your swimming shorts or a bikini.' Unless your husband is a rich neo nazi rapper - then you can do what you want
