The Aviba association of travel agencies in the Balearics suggests there are "signs of exhaustion" among tourism markets because of the increases in prices. But it only refers to Germany specifically, and association president, Pedro Fiol, says: "We will continue to grow in terms of the number of tourists this summer because some markets compensate for a deficit in others. However, we must consider whether we will be able to maintain the prices for another season."

Palma thinks it is better than it really is and people should consider elsewhere for value for money now.
In central Palma, in a run of the mill tapas joint on Friday lunchtime, I was asked if I wanted bread. At €6.50 a head ... it's not surprising people are voting with their wallets.
