Albacete 1 - Real Mallorca 0

Mallorca away at Albacete, who seemed pretty much relegated, with the visitors hoping for points to move themselves away from the fourth drop spot.

On a rainy evening in Castile-La Mancha, Albacete were not lying down, dominating most of the exchanges before Diaz went close for Mallorca just short of the half hour. As the break neared, Mallorca stepped up a gear, Aveldaño drawing a save from Carlos and Ortuño and Sissoko both having efforts without worrying the keeper.

Into the second period and any ascendancy Mallorca might have hinted at late in the first half was not added to. Cruz, halfway through the period, headed Albacete into the lead, with Mallorca having made very little impression. This at least sprung a lethargic Mallorca into some life, with a striker, Brandon, coming on for Company in defence and bringing a save from Carlos in the Albacete goal. But it was the home side who looked to kill things off, Parades going close with a header and then Cesar Diaz hitting the post.

With five rounds of matches to go, Mallorca are in seventeenth on 40 points with Almeria and Ponferradina, so only out of the relegation area on goal difference.
