Real Mallorca had their first win on the road this season when they beat Cordoba 2-0 on Friday night. The first half saw Cordoba streets ahead of us in attacking play,  but our defence was quite magnificent, the home side forcing five corners in 23 minutes and winning the possession count in that half 69-31.

Things looked bleak for Mallorca when Lago Junior went off after 20 minutes rubbing his tummy, showing he had a stomach muscle problem. To say the first half was one way traffic for the home side was an understatement; the again-packed Mallorcafé punters were chewing on what nails they had left.

It was heart-in-mouth time in the 30th minute when once again our goalkeeper Roberto Santamaria went walkabout. This time he chased an attacker to the far touchline, the ball was crossed towards an empty net but somehow Mallorca's Cordoba-born defender Antonio Raillo got back to head away the clearance. It looked only a matter of time before the home side would hit the target as the Palma side hung on. Our goal led a charmed life as the teams went in at the break on level terms. We had been battered by a lively Cordoba side who looked, like us, unable to put away their chances.

Into the second half and once again our goal took a pounding, that is until the 62nd minute. Somehow Mallorca managed to get out of defence. Brandon Thomas, put through a defence-splitting pass for Moutinho to run through, and he was one-on-one with Cordoba 'keeper Kieszek. The Mallorca winger kept his cool and slotted home our opener, silencing the home crowd.

Seconds after Moutinho scored he was taken off to let Lekic come on. Mallorca fans in the Mallorcafé were over the moon to see the big Serb come on after his goal last Saturday against Zaragoza which gave us a hard-fought point. In the 79th minute Mallorca won one of their few corners, Culio took it and the ball was headed over to the far post by Yuste, finding an unmarked Brandon who tapped in. Somehow Mallorca had overcome adversity and snatched their first win away from home for five months.
