Dear friends,
While mainland Spain braces for an intense heatwave this weekend, Mallorca is expected to narrowly avoid the worst of it — though temperatures will still climb to a scorching 38°C in some areas. María José Guerrero, spokesperson for the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) in the Balearics, explained that the island won’t officially be under a heatwave as the hot air mass from North Africa is primarily affecting the Peninsula.

That said, the island won’t escape the heat entirely. Clear skies and rising temperatures are forecast throughout the weekend, with the interior expected to reach highs of up to 38°C, triggering a yellow weather alert on Saturday. Coastal areas can expect light winds and sea breezes to offer some relief, but the heat is here to stay as June ends and July begins.
