Largely prompted by the problems in Santa Catalina over the summer, the Palma federation of residents associations is proposing that nightlife venues either close at midnight or relocate to industrial estates. It maintains that coexistence between nightlife and residents has become unsustainable and that action needs to be taken. The proposal will therefore be tabled at a meeting of the town hall group for coexistence.

Alfonso Rodríguez Sánchez, president of the Consubal consumers association in the Balearics, says that shoppers in the Balearics are replacing fresh products with frozen ones because they are cheaper and are buying "unhealthy" cuts of meat that contain a lot of fat. "People in the Balearics are no longer eating what they want but what they can."

Will you use the free public transport in Mallorca next year?

The Balearic government have announced that public transport would be free from next year in an effort to encourage people to leave their car at home. The central administration in Madrid will pay for all costs believed to be in the region of 43 million euros in the Balearics.
