'Immigration was always at the heart of Brexit but I think some forget that there are many British immigrants in EU countries. Yes with the majority contributing to the country they live in. We have to many freeloaders as it is, without the swing door policy of a wave of eastern europeans/syrian/african/etc etc swamping Britain.

Kind of off topic, but the guy who mentioned the Big Issue sellers really has a point. This used be a bit of money for the legitimately homeless... and now, Romanian gangs have taken over the whole operation... everywhere. How the Brits fall for this act is a mystery to me.

V glad it's not just me. Re your comment...I predicted Brexit and I predicted Trump. Now I predict the demise of the EU hence my comment on the Germans (BTW I like the Germans, I married one!)

David, why would the possibility of Germany blocking a deal between the UK and Spain affect Germans resident in Spain.? While both Germany and Spain remain in the EU the right of Germans to live and work in Spain surely cannot even come into the equation. Just asking - I haven’t red-minused you! The same happened to me the other day when I offered what I considered to be helpful information about the right to health care in Spain after Brexit (facts based on my professional experience, not an opinion). I got two red marks!

S: Why do “Brits need to return whist their passports are valid”? Why would Brexit invalidate any British passport?!

user David | over 7 years ago

Good points Richard. Although why did someone 'red minus' my original comments, merely statements of fact not opinion. Shows how dumb some MDB readers are...

There are two more. Rajoy won't be in power when deals have to be done and the UK's attitude in regards to Gibraltar.

user David | over 7 years ago

I should have added that while the willingness is there, the only issue - and it's a big one - is that Germany will block Spain from doing a good deal. I wonder what will happen to the Germans here...

user David | over 7 years ago

Don't you read the news? May and Rajoy had talks on reciprocal rights this week, with both agreeing that it should be a priority, and stating that a fair deal that protects UK citizens in Spain and Spanish citizens in the UK is 'the right and fair thing to do.' You should get out more...
