It's a huge ugly 10 storey building in a prime plot. A tourism museum is not only a lousey idea, but it wouldn't fill half of the ground floor. As the MDB has been reporting for a while, Palma has an affordable housing crisis, so why not knock the bloody thing down and build a bit of housing?

Well at least Barcelo will have a section on the man that destroyed tourism to keep legacy going !

Who would visit this place? Not the reducing number of tourists whose main interest is sun, sea, sand, sex, food, drink, and stupendous natural beauty...after all there's nothing to suggest they flock to current museums. Certainly not the locals, a significant number of whom fail to recognise that tourism funds their lifestyles.

You have to laugh at the stupidity of this island. They are so lucky that they have natural beauty otherwise they would be impoverished with the current intellect in the government and the bodies that are supposedly responsible. This building was protected when it should have been knocked down - eyesore and an embarrassment to all tourists as they drive past it.

Spend tourist tax income and turn it into accomodation for locals ( social housing) the tourist musiem is a non starter. Need to look after the main income stream _ tourists and the local Majorcan people. Otherwise it's a recipe for disaster.

The best thing would be to demolish the eyesore.

Yet another ludicrous idea! Enough of museums and culture! As there will be less tourists every year now thanks to Barceló and his cronies, I suppose they would like to show what the islands were like in times before Més came along. Let the building be converted to flats and used to house the homeless and the unemployed that this government have created. Isn't that what socialism and communism is all about??

Best laugh I've had this week.

All you actually need is a small, comfortable room housing a solitary tourist with a label reading ''extinct''

There is no way you could even begin to fill a building of that size and can you just imagine what it would cost to run and maintain a building of that size,Melia really is living in cloud cuckoo land
