Tourism in Mallorca is largely dead and buried for the rest of this year. You can be optimistic if it makes you feel better, but reality usually trounces misplaced optimism. It's a disaster - but tourism too early would deepen the disaster substantially. I'd be delighted to be proven wrong.

Totally agree with the comment below about advertising pop--ups. If you try to post using a mobile phone in particular, the pop-up ad's are configured to obscure the area in which you wish to post. You must lose a significant number of reader comments due to this: it's a total pain when it happens.

You need to sort out your pop ups. They make it impossible to comment on a mobile.

I know many people waiting to travel and will go on their holidays in Aug so i disagree with most comments below. If the government allows travel, there is plenty that will go. Look at the 10000s who have already had the virus fo start with.

Until there is a vaccine or easily accessible & effective treatment, tourism is dead, no country would wish to have CV-19 infected tourists coming to their resort. Not just the fights but the room cleansing between guests, the safety of staff at hotels... the things we have taken for granted for around 40 years has been turned on its head.

There is no chance what's so ever of any holidays in majorca in 2020 totally stupid to think other wise airplanes would have to fly half full for a start transfers on coaches half full swimming pools everyone 2 metres apart bars 2metres apart restaurants 2 metres apart shops 2 metres apart some holiday this would be. Not happening full stop. See you in 2021

Not happening, no demand and no planes. There will be no tourist season. The government needs to plan for this now. Article in the Telegraph outlining that flights will double in cost at least due to social distancing requirements on planes. Add to that things like security queues taking twice as long re distancing and the fact that a survey out today says 70% of Brits fear for their financial situation. Then not many people will come. The cost of a holiday here would be horrendous. Those who are in Mallorca, enjoy the beach this summer, you will have to yourself.

I adore Mallorca. I miss it. But I am afraid to get on a plane. I think people will always want to come but will they risk the travel?

Feel so sorry for all the business at this very sad time it's hard for us in the UK too but I'm wondering how all those activists feel about tourism now that their is non. Do they still not want us to come to your amazing Island or has this terrible time changed their minds.
