Osasuna 2 - Real Mallorca 1

Mallorca, in the bottom four at the start of the match and struggling to score goals, went off to Pamplona to take on Osasuna, a side which, though they are in the top three, are inconsistent. Might Mallorca take advantage of this?

At least Mallorca have been tight at the back, if unable to score, but this positive aspect was swiftly undone, Unai García heading in from a corner before ten minutes had passed, and then Oier letting fly, the ball taking a touch and ending up behind Cabrero. But Mallorca soon pulled one back, the much derided Coro following up good work by Campabadal, and as the half wore on, Mallorca became the more assertive, Sissoko unable to convert an effort set up by Pereira three minutes before the break.

The second half, and it was Mallorca mainly in the ascendant, Osasuna not making a decent chance (from sub Pucko) until halfway through the second period. The remainder of the half was scrappy, neither side making any real headway, while the number of yellow cards grew. Mallorca paid for the two early goals, but they suffered once more from the lack of creativity and of scoring opportunities.
