The three-nil home defeat by Valladolid was the last straw for the Real Mallorca management. Coach Fernando Vázquez has been dismissed, with the team lying seventeenth in the second division and having won four games out of seventeen so far this season. His replacement is former Mallorca player Javier Olaizola, who had been in charge of the B team and who briefly took charge of the first team at the end of the 2013-2014 season.

The club's managing director, Maheta Molango, thanked Vázquez for his commitment while coach but added that the time was right to make decisions and to change. Molango said that the club was looking for someone brave and ambitious, and that man was Olaizola.

Vázquez becomes the seventh coach in Liga 123 to lose his job this season.
