Pollensa provided a picturesque backdrop for the rugby day last Saturday, hosted by Union RC. Over a hundred youngsters showed up to play in their various categories watched by plenty of enthusiastic spectators. Teams from El Toro RC, RC Ponent, Bahia RC, and Shamrock RC all took part, with players from Agora Portals, Mallorca Bocs and Trepitjadors joining in with other teams. El Toro RC had a successful day winning in several of the age groups. However, the competition is always tough as the standard of play continues to improve as the season progresses.

Veterans Match
The Emeritus Taurus joined with the Babarians, the Baleares veterans, in a friendly match in Pollensa after children had their turn. Although the older players might be a bit slower and feel the bumps and bruises a little more, this doesn’t mean they are any less competitive.

Girls League
Following a training session, the female players from the clubs on the island got together for a XV’s match as preparation for the Baleares team who will travel to the tournament in Valencia next weekend. El Toro RC played against a combined Shamrock and Corsaris team. The final score was a 20-20 draw. The chosen team will represent the Baleares next weekend in a match with a primarily training purpose in Cheste, Valencia. It will also serve as match practice for the Spanish Territorial Championships.

Coming up this weekend
In the Senior League, RC Ponent host El Toro RC in what is always a competitive match. The game kicks off at 16.00 in Principes de España, Palma. Bahia RC host Union RC in S’Arraco kicking off at 17.00. Capdepera RC continue their season against Shamrock RFC and Ibiza RC are at home to TRUC Menorca.

Bahia RC will also host the U16 and U18 teams in S’Arraco with kick-offs at 12.00 and 14.00 respectively whilst the Baleares Girls team head to Valencia.
