Mallorca battered by gale force winds, Cala San Vicente in the spotlight
Winds of up to 90 kilometres an hour battered the island over the weekend putting emergency services on full alert. The Palma Met Office registered the following wind speeds over the weekend.
92 Far de Capdepera lightbouse (92 kilometres per hour) 90 Serra d'Alfàbia 74 Cabrera 63 Son Servera 61 Calvià 60 Pollença 57 Portocolom 56 Banyalbufar 56 Palma, Dic de l'Oest 52 Port de Pollensa. Cala san Vicente was also hit hard (See photo gallery).
The weather is also exceptionally cold with temperatures falling below the freezing point overnight.
