Dear Sir, In an excellent article Hugh Ash (Sunday Comment) asks the fair question of how the West deals with what's happened in Egypt after the moderates kicked out a president who promised to be democratic but turned into a dictator.

He is right when he says democracy needs religion to be separated from the state. But it also needs an independent judiciary, free press and equality under the law for all.

Until that happens America and the EU should stop throwing money at Arab countries until their political parties agree to respect democratic rules and show they stick to them.

We have enough problems of our own without wasting hard earned cash on lost causes and liars like Morsi.
