Paris.—The biggest movie production to date shot here in Majorca is about to start taking the world by storm at festivals this week, according to early reviews.

Cloud Atlas, starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Hugh Grant, Susan Sarandon and Jim Broadbent, to name just a few of the all star cast, has finally been given a release date, October, the same month as the new James Bond film Sky Fall.

Berry, Hanks, Grant and Broadbent shot much of their scenes here in Majorca last summer and in the trailer, which is now online, the locations used in Majorca are clearly recognisable.

What the producers did to the military base on top of Puig Major is amazing.
Cloud Atlas is a 2004 novel, the third book by British author David Mitchell. It won the British Book Awards Literary Fiction Award and the Richard & Judy Book of the Year award, and was short-listed for the 2004 Booker Prize, Nebula Award, Arthur C. Clarke Award, and other awards.

The book tells a number of seemingly unrelated stories, before gradually revealing them to be interconnected, which the Wachowskis have chosen to deal with by getting the actors to play a number of different roles throughout the film.

In the trailer, the studio has portrayed the idea that each of the stories are connected in some way, which reflects the book.
Cloud Atlas is already being hailed as one of 2012's most interesting films and should hopefully boost Majorca's appeal around the world.
It is a well known fact that major successful film locations boost tourism, so hopefully Cloud Atlas will have Majorca on cloud nine next year.
